Within BASF Seed and Traits R&D, genome engineering refers to generation of genetically modified plants. The Plant Genome Engineering group in Trait Research combines state-of-the-art genetic engineering, genome editing, tissue culture and transformation expertise, as well as are highly experienced in workflow-based operational organization aimed at minimal cost and timelines while ensuring required quality. Plant Genome Engineering is embedded in a research department that focuses on trait discovery, engineering and evaluation. BASF Innovation Center Gentbooth 12As part of the Agricultural Solutions division of BASF, the Innovation Center Gent delivers innovative solutions for the Seeds business through modern biotechnology and advanced plant breeding. It’s one of the largest R&D sites within the Seeds group and employs about 400 employees from 20 different countries. The BASF Innovation Center Gent covers many aspects within the Seeds business from early discovery research to product commercialization, or as we call it: “from the lab to the field”.
